You sell your materials, but Im asking how df you get to the factory where you can use a forklift and line runner (which is not solair btw)

I use to have like 6k iron and now this union is made, I lost it all... If I join the miners union, will I get it back?

90% sure you will still have it when you get miners union. Because i had 200 and i kept it, Although now it's "Raw Metals"

Yep. They are renamed to raw metals and you keep them. However they are only unable if the character is in the miners union.
